Do you still remember the 2004 Indian ocean earthquake in which nearly 230,000 died from the disaster. The cause of this tsunami is the earthquakes deep in the ocean. Generally, the displacement of water by earthquakes, landslides, or submarine slumps is the cause of ocean earthquake. To forecast the tsunami, many countries and international organization has set Tsunami warning system in order to prevent the injuries and deaths.

Earthquake is one of cause of Ocean earthquake. Only in 2 years, we heard 2 disaster earthquakes: China WenChuan Earthquake and Haiti earthquake. By now, there are over 200,000 people died from Haiti earthquake. After the earthquake, there always epidemic diseases occur in that area. Although our technology are developed, we still don't have a really efficient warning system for us to forecast the earthquake.

Tsunami warning system

Tsunami warning system (TWS) is a system to detect tsunamis and warnings to prevent loss of life and property. There are two system for Tsunami forecasting: international and regional. Tsunamis travel at between 500 and 1,000 km/h, and the earthquakes can be detected almost at once as seismic waves travel with a typical speed of 4 km/s, the time difference of arrival make it possible for the warning of the Tsunami to help people. According to a report, if the 2004 Indian ocean earthquake warning was reported in time, more people will survive.
